Kodawood mystery chairs
I just picked these up this afternoon from Jennifer at Jen's Vintage. They are in pretty bad shape but I've never seen this style by Kodawood so I figured I'd get them. The chairs need to be completely stripped of the fabric, they were reupholstered 3 times but never removed the previous fabric, and all of the joints need to be disconnected and redone. Anyone have any ideas for the name of these chairs? Any help would be appreciated! Here is an article on Jen in the examiner news. www.theexaminernews.com/archives/putnam/PutnamExaminer6-1-10.pdf The article is on page 12. Jen's prices were super reasonable and she was great to talk with. She also has a shop set up in the Hopewell Antique Center. 876 Rt. 82 Hopewell Junction N.Y. I'll update as I progress further with these chairs.
Here is another link to a pretty helpful site about the Kodawood clam chair:

Hey! Those are great. How many did you get? I looked around real quick and couldn't find another like exactly like these but I did see another style of high back Kodawood dining chair. Not sure if any of them have a "name" though. Maybe we could call these "I" back dining chairs instead of "High" back dining chairs! (WAH Wah waahhh) Pretty cool score. Can't wait to see them reupholstered.
ReplyDeleteI have 6 of them. So far only had a chance to strip them of the upholstery. Will update in the spring when I have a chance to work on them. Thanks for the post!
